We train for godliness by believing in the promises of our future hope in the living God, and then by making our present life look like our life to come.
Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
We train for godliness by believing in the promises of our future hope in the living God, and then by making our present life look like our life to come.
The growing and progressing Christian knows that life only comes out of death and defeat. Trusting the Spirit to minister the death of the old and the life of the new in us as we choose more and more to trust in “to live is Christ.”
“To live is Christ” is to seek with all our hearts the love of the Father whose love first sought and found us. It is to cease looking inward and begin looking upward, the the throne of Christ. See him seated there at the right hand of God. Saving your seat. So sit down. Stay awhile. Set your mind on him. Continually contemplate the crucified, risen, and ascended Christ Jesus our Lord. It is only here that you will discover the true will of God – knowing Jesus. Loving him. Trusting him. Finding your life hidden with him in God.
Will today be the day you walk in the Christ that you once freely received? Today will the same faith in the same grace that justified you be allowed to sanctify you? Today will your life abound in thanksgiving to God for his saving love in Jesus his Son? Today will you “to live is Christ.”
“To live is Christ” is to live in this firmness of faith. Faith in Christ’s work for us that will produce his work in us until the day of its completion.
Being filled with the knowledge of God’s will (Christ-likeness) and being instinctively controlled by the wisdom and understanding of God (Christ himself) is faith. It is “to live is Christ.”
