Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
“To live is Christ” is to swallow evil. No more running. No more hiding. No more revenge. Because death, evil, and suffering can no longer defeat us, we can now face them with the resurrection power of Christ. Transforming them into his life and love, his goodness and service.
“To live is Christ” offers us true meaning. We share the divine nature of the last Adam. We have his life. His good life. Forever.
“To live is Christ” has made you a giver. A sharer of the good news of God and of your own self. May God grant us his grace today as we seek to share life with others, both pointing them to Christ and being Christ to them in these difficult days.
“To live is Christ” is not only a union with Christ’s spiritual existence forever (which it is). It is a union with Christ’s bodily, physical existence forever. May this hope of the glorious renewal of all things sustain and empower us as we live through days of pain and loss, hopelessness and hurt, until that day when we too will walk out of our graves into the presence of the Son. Until then do not be afraid.
“To live is Christ” means that we abide in Christ and Christ abides in us forever. Now apart from him we can do nothing. And that is good news! Because it means that in him we can do all things. All believing, all loving, all giving, all sharing, all hoping, all fruit born out of the life of Jesus in us.
“To live is Christ” is to sit at the Lord’s table and partake of all the benefits of his life and his death. His forgiveness. His suffering. His resurrection. His cleansing. His acceptance. His inheritance. In Christ we have taken it all into our being. Now our life of suffering is fellowship, not appeasement. Our partaking has become our participation. To choose to love, to choose to sacrifice for another, is to feast on Christ until that day we feast with Christ new in the kingdom of God.
