Union with Christ is a seal. A possession. An unbreakable presence. God himself is the guarantee of our salvation. Not a creed and not a deed.
Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
Union with Christ is a seal. A possession. An unbreakable presence. God himself is the guarantee of our salvation. Not a creed and not a deed.
“To live is Christ” has given us, through grace, what we tried to earn in the Garden through effort. The Garden left humanity with knowledge but no love. In Christ, we have his love and his knowledge. We have his love and we know how to use it. The daily question is “will we?”
Because we have the life and peace of Christ, our mind can now rest. It can stop running desperately toward self-righteousness. It can actually be quite humble and open minded. Our minds can be renewed in love. The love of “to live is Christ.”
“To live is Christ” has imputed to us a whole new self. A righteous self. A self that delights in God and his love. And a new self that, by grace through faith, can actually walk in the new way of the Spirit.
“To live is Christ” is to live by the Spirit of freedom. Freedom from the law and its condemnation. And freedom to trust the power of God’s love that has poured into every beating heart of every believer in Christ.
“To live is Christ” is an invitation into what God is doing through us. By our faith in the indwelling life of Christ, and our faithful words and deeds, we make the good news of the New Covenant accessible to all that we come in contact with each and every day.
