“To live is Christ” is exaltation and glory by God but only through our humility and dependence on Christ. May Christ’s humble heart for us humble our own hearts for him.

December 9, 2020. Day 344: Rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ.
“To live is Christ” makes all our suffering a reason to rejoice. Not because we suffer, but because in suffering we can share in Christ. Share in his acceptance by God. Share in his friendship with the Spirit. Share in his courage. Share in his holiness. Share in his goodness and compassion. Share in his love. Share in his very life. And then, one day, share in his eternal glory.
December 8, 2020. Day 343: That you might follow in his steps.
The cruciform life is primarily this – entrusting our lives to him who judges justly. It is Jesus’ unbroken trust in God on the cross that saved us. And now that trust in God is the gift of our salvation. Trusting God’s justice and mercy. Trusting his grace and love. Trusting that “to live is Christ.”
December 7, 2020. Day 342: Live as people who are free, as servants of God.
“To live is Christ” has made us truly free. Free to be a slave to God and servant of all. Empowered by all Christ’s own praise, glory, and honor (1:7), we can finally set aside our own pursuit of these things and enter into the true love of selfless service.
December 6, 2020. Day 341: But now you have received mercy.
“To live is Christ” is bold belonging. It is undeserved acceptance. And there’s nothing better in this world than that.
December 5, 2020. Day 340: Ransomed with the precious blood of Christ.
“To live is Christ” is to be rescued, ransomed, and set apart in holiness. Rescued from the power of sin. Ransomed from the penalty of sin. And therefore set apart from sin’s pleasure into the greater pleasure of God’s grace in Christ.
