We don’t need more regulations and principles. We have exactly what we need. The life of Jesus, his heart, his desires, his affections becoming our own. We have “to live is Christ.”
Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
We don’t need more regulations and principles. We have exactly what we need. The life of Jesus, his heart, his desires, his affections becoming our own. We have “to live is Christ.”
“To live is Christ” is to allow the gospel, the word of Christ, to live in your heart house. To give the Spirit control of every thought, decision, and motivation. To trust Jesus with every part of your life.
“To live is Christ” gives us the peace of Christ as the new rule of our hearts. When everything around us demands conflict, stress, and despair, the King of our hearts reminds us that everything is under his command. You’re not failing, you’re flourishing. You’re not alone, you’re in Christ. You’re never defeated, never without hope and forever loved.
“To live is Christ” is to put on his love above everything else, for his love alone can bind us all together in perfect harmony. The harmony of the Trinity. So today return to the love of God. See the gut wrenching love of Christ for you on the cross, and let it enlarge your heart.
“To live is Christ” means we have put on the new self that is being renewed into the knowledge of Christ’s image. And that means there is no longer any room for division among us. We are all equal in our need for grace. We are all equal in God’s love for us. Because we are all in Christ.
Does all this sound like the same old rule following to you? It’s not. It’s the opposite. It’s not law keeping to find love, it’s living out of love that has found us. It’s living as the new self. Living in “to live is Christ.”
