Read Psalm 93:1-5. 1The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt. Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. 2Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting. 3The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. 4Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty! 5Your decrees are very trustworthy; holiness befits your house, O Lord, forevermore.
The Lord Adonai reigns.
Imagine how life would be different for us if we truly believed this fact. How clearly might we see our place in this world, and this world as God’s place? Yes, here at ground level we are surrounded by the roaring floods of many waters, but the Lord reigns above them all. His view is from on high. He is not overwhelmed by the waters. He hovers above the waters. How might we too hover rather than drown in a flood beaten world?
The answer is simple faith. Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ our resurrected Adonai who reigns on high. Robed in majesty wearing the belt of strength. Trust his decrees. What decrees? This one:
John 6:47. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.
And this one:
John 16:33. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.
And this one:
John 17:22. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,
And many more.
To live is Christ is to trust the words of Christ, his decrees. What has Jesus said about himself? About us? About eternity? And what has God decreed about his Son, Jesus? The Lord reigns! That is his final decree. And we will reign with him on high. May we hover above the flood waters with by this truth.

You in Christ: How does our union with Christ allow us to trust all that Jesus decrees over us?
Christ in you: What decree is Jesus asking you to trust and obey today?
Prayer. Jesus, you reign on high forevermore. I know that if I really believed this my life would be so much different. Help me to know and trust your decrees. Amen.
