Read Psalm 66:1-5. 1Shout for joy to God, all the earth 2sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! 3Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. 4All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.” 5Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.
The invitation to come and see what God has done is open to all the earth. And one day all the earth will flow to the city of God with shouts of joy and songs of praise.
In Christ our life is this invitation. It is meant to call out, “Come and see.” Come and see all that my Savior has done for me and in me. Our lives together are an invitation to see the glory of God displayed in the worship of his people. Worship that is never inconsequential. Never artificial. Worship that points to the awesome deed of God in Christ – his sacrifice for us on the cross. There is no more awesome deed than this.
Is your life this invitation? Do you tell of the awesome deeds of God, especially the most gloriously awesome deed of the Christ’s death and resurrection? Do you look forward to the day when all the earth will sing praises to Jesus?
To live is Christ is to make his praise glorious so that in it others will hear an invitation to come and see. Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Come and see. Can anything good come out of the Christian church? Come and see.
Prayer. Jesus, how awesome are your deeds toward us. Your death. Your life. Your indwelling life. May others want to come and see you when they see me. Amen.
