TLIC Psalms. April 30. God Is For Me.

Read Psalm 56:8-13. 8You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book? 9Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call. This I know, that God is for me. 10In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise, 11in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me? 12I must perform my vows to you, O God; I will render thank offerings to you. 13For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.

The Christian can find the assurance of these verses fulfilled in their union with Christ. God is for me. How do I know? Because, as Paul reasons in Romans 8, “if God spared not his own Son for us, won’t he also give us all things?” Or, as is reasoned in Ephesians 5, “for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”

Do you know God is for you today?

Christian, please know that God has been for you personally since before the world was created. Before time and space. And now he is for you in your temptation and in your trial. In your failure and in your fear. He was for you when he was against his only Son, Jesus. He was for you when he delivered your soul from eternal death. God is FOR you because he is IN you.

To live is Christ means that when it feels like you can know nothing else in this life you can know this one thing, God is for you. He intimately keeps track of your tossings and carefully collects your tears. What wondrous grace in Christ.

Prayer. Jesus, let me walk before you in the light of your life. Your eternal life that you have placed inside of me by your loving Spirit. Amen.
