Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
To live is Christ is a life of identifying and rooting out our idols, our functional saviors, until only hope in Christ remains. Until we decide to take on this task of daily repentance we will never know ourselves, nor will we trust our position in Christ.
May to live is Christ be our reminder each day of what we deserve as opposed to what we received in him.
If the Israelites were admonished to remember the Exodus, how much more must we who are in Christ remember the invasion of Jesus into humanity, and the redemption of our souls from our slavery to self? How much more does to live is Christ remind us that we can trust the one experienced the flesh in our place?
It is only the kindness of God that brings true and lasting repentance. Only the punishment of Christ on the cross has the power to break us and re-make us. Only his faithfulness, not ours. Only his dedication, his consecration, his commitment, his effort, can make our hearts steadfast toward God. Only to live is Christ can break the cycle.
Only Jesus, the Manna of life, is infinite enough to satisfy every craving of our souls. Only the love of Christ is an addiction that won’t leave you loathing what you demanded. Only to live is Christ offers a reality simple enough to dispel the pressures of life, and glorious enough to motivate a purposeful life.
To live is Christ means trusting him either way. In abounding and in abasing.
