Proverbs 12:5. The thoughts of the righteous are just; the counsels of the wicked are deceitful. Did you know that you have a “thought life?”
This assurance now allows us to face our own moral and intellectual limitations. We no longer have to be consumed with our personal justifications. We can fight to win hearts not arguments. Because we have the life and peace of Christ, our mind can now rest. It can stop running desperately toward self-righteousness. It can actually be quite humble and open minded. Our minds can be renewed in love. The love of “to live is Christ.”
“To live is Christ” removes the need for this pride filled and fleshly thinking, this form of law, by making us perfectly righteous right now, while at the same time reminding us that we are also completely sinful right now. Therefore, the Christian life is not about the pride filled journey of getting better and better. It is about the never ending need for grace. Grace that will ultimately make you like Jesus.
