“To live is Christ” means that his life and his love now control us. The new way of the Spirit makes knowing God intimately both our greatest good and our greatest desire in life.
“To live is Christ” removes the need for this pride filled and fleshly thinking by making us perfectly righteous right now, while at the same time reminding us that we are also completely sinful right now.
“To live is Christ” means your old sin nature is dead and gone, and yet the remaining selfish flesh inside of you is still hanging on the cross.
“To live is Christ” is to live in a battle for the desires of your heart. But Christ has won this battle. His desires are yours in Christ. And your deepest desire is for him.
That, my friends, is true Christianity. That is “to live is Christ.” Knowing that God has done it all. That it’s all of his grace. And that now, all that remains is to trust him.
By God’s grace, as we choose to faithfully express Christ’s power, love, and self-control in our own thoughts, choices, and emotional expressions, this faith will become our soul’s habit, our controlling spiritual instinct, our ongoing disposition to the world. Now, our spirit of fear is being gradually replaced with the Spirit of Jesus. Living in fear is being replaced with “to live is Christ.”
