he time (in fact most likely you’re not). But that is our prayer. A prayer for the Spirit to give us strength in the inner man as we allow Christ to make himself at home in our hearts. Jesus, make yourself at home in us.
The law can reveal my holy God and my unholy self, but only the cross can crucify the flesh and only the resurrection can quicken the life of Christ in me (and it already has). This is the gospel. This is the new way of the Spirit. This is “to live is Christ.”
“To live is Christ” is to live by the Spirit of freedom. Freedom from the law and its condemnation. And freedom to trust the power of God’s love that has poured into every beating heart of every believer in Christ.
“To live is Christ” offers us true meaning. Meaning that comes from sharing the divine nature of the last Adam. We share his life. His good life. Forever.
“To live is Christ” means that we are one spirit with Christ. Like a marriage, the two have become one. We share Jesus’ nature while keeping our unique personhood. What love! Christ’s love for you says. “I truly love YOU and want you to stay you.” And at the same time Christ’s love says, “I truly want you to change and grow and be the best you that you can be – the you that’s like me.”
“To live is Christ” reminds us of who we really are. We are super heroes. Filled with the power of the cross. Filled with the love of Christ.
