Instead of trusting in these lesser glories, it’s time to act with the zeal of Phinehas against them (Num. 25). Not so as to be counted as righteous, but from the righteousness of Christ in you. From to live is Christ.
Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
Instead of trusting in these lesser glories, it’s time to act with the zeal of Phinehas against them (Num. 25). Not so as to be counted as righteous, but from the righteousness of Christ in you. From to live is Christ.
To live is Christ is to have this eternal Savior, our chosen champion of forgiveness and grace, placed in the gap by God himself. May we forever see the glory of this Savior, and refuse to exchange the glory of Christ for the lesser glories that captivate our hearts but can never heal our hearts as he can.
To live is Christ will not let you go a single minute without the hand of God upon you. The hand of his loving discipline burning up the chaff of sin that remains in your heart until you are like him for seeing him as he is.
It is only the kindness of God that brings true and lasting repentance. Only the punishment of Christ on the cross has the power to break us and re-make us. Only his faithfulness, not ours. Only his dedication, his consecration, his commitment, his effort, can make our hearts steadfast toward God. Only to live is Christ can break the cycle.
To live is Christ is to live in brokenness from sin and boldness from mercy.
This is to live is Christ – simultaneously trapped in our human weakness, yet set free by our union with him.
