“To live is Christ” is the marriage of knowledge and love. Truth and grace. But remember, knowledge alone serves no one. It only feeds the selfish flesh. But knowledge alongside love might just change the world.
Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
“To live is Christ” is the marriage of knowledge and love. Truth and grace. But remember, knowledge alone serves no one. It only feeds the selfish flesh. But knowledge alongside love might just change the world.
“To live is Christ” is to grow from a seed into fruit. It’s gradual and unstoppable. Difficult and delightful. And it is a growth that comes by faith alone. Faith in Christ’s love as the seed placed into the soil of our hearts, and faith in Christ love as the fruit of our lives. Lives that are learning to depend more and more on his grace.
“To live is Christ” is hope, faith, and love, with love as the end of all things. Our hope and faith in Christ become Christ’s love in us and through us. And this is the only thing that counts now. Not your works, not your performance, not your religious rituals, disciplines, or deeds. Just fully trusting Christ to the point where you are free to love as he has loved you.
“To live is Christ” tells us two important truths about our love. It is a brotherly love. It should feel normal and natural to love others, because love is born into us. And it is also being “taught to us” by God himself. The Holy Spirit. Christ in us. The Trinity’s love for one another teaching us what our love can and should look like in our churches, homes, communities, and beyond.
So are you experiencing the power of Christ by the Holy Spirit? Are you patient in hope, worshiping from faith, and laboring in love for others? Only the gospel can empower such living. Only our union with Christ can provide the hope needed for this kind of power. Resurrection power. The power of “to live is Christ.”
“To live is Christ” means you are no longer separated from God. And it means you are separated from those who are not yet in Christ. But not so that you can stay separated. We have been brought out of the world so that we could be sent back into the world. Not hiding behind our convictions. But living from the conviction that the gospel alone can unite all mankind.
