“To live is Christ” means forever living free from the only curse that ever existed. The curse of the law. And, beyond this, it means living in the blessing of Christ’s own life. The life of curse crushing love and mercy that now lives in you.
Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
“To live is Christ” means forever living free from the only curse that ever existed. The curse of the law. And, beyond this, it means living in the blessing of Christ’s own life. The life of curse crushing love and mercy that now lives in you.
“To live is Christ” is therefore much, much, more than self-denial or the “imitation of Christ.” It is a whole new identity, a new reality, a new nature. It’s a whole new life and a whole new way to live. Alive through death. Living by dying.
And so here we are, trapped in the dead end of the law. Deceived into thinking that what condemns us will actually justify us. If only there was a whole new way to live. If only there was “to live is Christ.”
“To live is Christ” has given us a whole new operating system. The If-Then that would have crushed us is now made obsolete by the Because-Therefore of our union with Christ.
“To live is Christ” has freed us from the religion of this world. Our hearts are meant for so much more than such dead religion, such regulation keeping, such “cause-effect” basics. In fact, we have died to all these. And now we are alive to dwell within the wild and wonderful love of God. A love that is a law to itself. A law that is a life that has been hidden with Christ in God.
“To live is Christ” allows us to take a deeply honest look at our own wretchedness as law keepers and then place our hope in the one who will deliver us from the body of death.
