That, my friends, is true Christianity. That is “to live is Christ.” Knowing that God has done it all. That it’s all of his grace. And that now, all that remains is to trust him.
“To live is Christ” means that now this mercy, this life, this hope, lives in us. Christ’s life in us is the great faithfulness of God. Christ’s indwelling love is the mercy we receive afresh each day.
“To live is Christ” is to live within each of these amazing New Covenant promises. Promises fulfilled by the self-giving love of Jesus Christ.
“To live is Christ” is possible because we are graciously granted entrance into God’s New Covenant with mankind through the man Christ Jesus. A covenant of unconditional love. A covenant of unbreakable hope.
“To live is Christ” means that exile is God’s plan for us. But it is not his final plan. Living in the presence of Christ in his eternal city is our future and our hope. And for now, trusting that Christ lives in us as we live in exile.
