“To live is Christ” is to live in a battle for the desires of your heart. But Christ has won this battle. His desires are yours in Christ. And your deepest desire is for him.
“To live is Christ” means Christ is the greatest gift that allows us to enjoy all of God’s other gifts.
Once an enemy, now a child of the King. Once outside, now inside. Once a dead dog, now “to live is Christ.”
“To live is Christ” means that we live beyond the Passover. Our union with Christ’s cross has destroyed our sins once for all. And our union with Christ’s resurrection has placed us into God himself. Not an appeased God who moves on. A pleased God who moves in.
“To live is Christ” is to enter the ark of Christ’s life. To leave behind the despair of our wicked hearts and embrace his rest. To cling to the righteousness of the one man, Jesus. The man who has received God’s favor. To let his resurrection power transform suffering and death into a beginning rather than an end.
