Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.

“To live is Christ” offers us this same true freedom. Not a freedom that we have fought for and won by our own power. Not a freedom that we must hold on to and never give up. But a freedom given to us by grace alone. A freedom that allows us to, like Christ, give up our freedom for the cause of love. A freedom that allows us to fight for reconciliation, peace, and justice. A freedom from Christ’s love that allows us to serve one another through love.
“To live is Christ” is hope, faith, and love, with love as the end of all things. Our hope and faith in Christ become Christ’s love in us and through us. And this is the only thing that counts now. Not your works, not your performance, not your religious rituals, disciplines, or deeds. Just fully trusting Christ to the point where you are free to love as he has loved you.
To live is Christ” means that you are in Christ and Christ is in you. But the Christ in you is embryonic. A seed. A life that is slowly but surely growing you into the life and love of Jesus.
“To live is Christ” means forever living free from the only curse that ever existed. The curse of the law. And, beyond this, it means living in the blessing of Christ’s own life. The life of curse crushing love and mercy that now lives in you.
“To live is Christ” IS Christ lives in me. No more and no less. His death is our death. His life is our life. All that is his is ours. All that he has done is applied to us. There is no greater truth in life than this. No greater hope. Nor greater love. You are as loved by God as Jesus is. Do you believe this? Will you, this very day, live by faith in this One who loved you and gave himself for you? I know you will.
