What if today we accepted God’s ancient answer to Abraham? What if the answer to “what will you give me?” is simply the promised Son, Jesus? Union with his life. His death. His resurrection. His righteousness as our righteousness. What if that was answer enough? What if the life of Christ credits you with a perfect score, and it credits God with a perfect score? What if we could live in the freedom of a life free from score keeping and simply walk by faith with God in his never ending grace and love?
“To live is Christ” means we are a part of the greatest conquest of all time – the victory of Christ Jesus over the world.
When you believe that you have freely and graciously been given “everything for life” by your Savior King you will, quite naturally, be determined to add these gifts on to your life by faith in Christ.
The cruciform life is primarily this – entrusting our lives to him who judges justly. It is Jesus’ unbroken trust in God on the cross that saved us. And now that trust in God is the gift of our salvation. Trusting God’s justice and mercy. Trusting his grace and love. Trusting that “to live is Christ.”
Because we are in Christ the outcome of our faith is guaranteed and guarded by God himself. We cannot fail any more than Jesus himself has failed.
“To live is Christ” will you get you home. How do I know? Because you are the joy that has been set before Jesus. You are his prize. His reward. His love. And now he is yours. So look to him. And run. Run to the arms of the one who has already run to you.
