At every “stage” of Christian growth, what we need most is always Jesus. His love. His forgiveness. His assurance. His acceptance. And this ever present need for grace is “to live is Christ.”
Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
At every “stage” of Christian growth, what we need most is always Jesus. His love. His forgiveness. His assurance. His acceptance. And this ever present need for grace is “to live is Christ.”
“To live is Christ” is to live by grace through faith unto good works. In that order. Any other way is not the life of Christ in us. When Christ’s good works flow effortlessly from our simple unstated faith in the gracious love of our Savior… that’s God’s workmanship.
“To live is Christ” means that we have been welcomed by Christ Jesus. When we trust that he loves us in spite of our sinfulness and weakness, we will be freed in our hearts to welcome and live in harmony with our brothers and sisters in Christ for the glory of God.
To bind my liberty with love’s demand – the demand of the life of Christ that calls for self-sacrifice and submission to the conscience of my brothers and sisters. This is the law of love. This is Christ in me. This is “to live is Christ.”
“To live is Christ” is faith not sight. Faith that believes that it is our suffering and sin filled lives that display the grace and goodness of the cross. Faith that believes that our union with Christ’s cross is the only miracle we need.
“To live is Christ” means present and complete transformation into the image of God because we are in Christ.
