“To live is Christ” is therefore much, much, more than self-denial or the “imitation of Christ.” It is a whole new identity, a new reality, a new nature. It’s a whole new life and a whole new way to live. Alive through death. Living by dying.
“To live is Christ” means no more separation. No closed doors. No veils. No curtains. No blockade to God’s love and grace.
“To live is Christ” means there is nothing left for God to do. No greater work than the work already accomplished by your union with the cross.
“To live is Christ” is to forever behold the Lamb’s sacrifice for us on the cross. And as we do, our hearts are drawn in love and grace to him while all else slowly fades away.
As both victim and oppressor Jesus died for sin. As both victim and oppressor we are free from sin’s effect.
