Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
1 Corinthians 13:13. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. Faith. Hope. Love. The three graces
“To live is Christ” means we are filled with love as a state of being. Love is. And love is in us. Why? Because Christ is in us. Without love we are nothing because without Christ we are nothing. But in Christ we are everything because his love has made us everything.
“To live is Christ” is to be brought into something that is much bigger than you – the interdependent body of Christ. This grace of interdependence is the primary characteristic of the body of Christ. Everyone matters, everyone has a role, everyone contributes to the growth of a new humanity re-created in love to serve both God and the world.
“To live is Christ” is to do all for the glory of God. Christ in us makes this possible. His life in you allows you to live for the good of others and thus display the glory and goodness of God.
“To live is Christ” is to face suffering beyond what we can bear, but it is to never face a temptation beyond what you can bear. Until Christ returns the temptations will always be there. But in Christ we have all we need to run away. All the hope, all the faith, and all the love we need to take up the cross, and escape into resurrection life.
“To live is Christ” offers us the freedom needed to serve others in order to reveal Christ. A freedom empowered by an eternal destiny and an eternal identity. I can lose my comfort, power, and status now in order to share in the blessing of the gospel with you forever.
