The Christian life is not about the pride filled journey of getting better and better. It is about the never ending need for grace.
“To live is Christ” is to constantly share every part of our lives with others to the glory of God and the good of all.
“To live is Christ” does not mean that we won’t sin (obviously). But it does mean that when we sin, and when we are confronted, we have a chance to respond with godly grief.
“To live is Christ” is to constantly sorrow and constantly rejoice. This kind of living in both columns at once is only possible in Christ.
Truly “to live is Christ” means becoming what we already are.
“To live is Christ” is to be reconciled to God by his justifying work. But beyond this, it is to spread the message of reconciliation that flows from God through each of us united to Christ. It is a hard work, the work of the cross, the work of dying to self as both the messenger and the one receiving the message.
