This is the good news of advent – in Christ we have been invited as the neighbors of Jesus to come under his vine and under his fig tree.

This is the good news of advent – in Christ we have been invited as the neighbors of Jesus to come under his vine and under his fig tree.
“To live is Christ” means we have the mighty rushing wind of God’s Spirit in us. But the incarnation tells us that that mighty whirlwind is now the simple breath of a baby.
So do not lose heart in your waiting. In Christmas, God has returned with mercy to his people. In Christmas, God has made his home with his people. And in Christ, God has promised to return again with prosperity for his people.
“To live is Christ” allows us to live this blameless life. No more blame means no more blame shifting. No more excuses or cover ups. Just perfect love allowing us to both take responsibility for our lives, and, at the same time to turn our lives over to Jesus.
Thank God that the advent of evil was met with the advent of God himself into our lives. Our ultimate Good destroying the ultimate evil.
Of this we can be certain – the Son of God will keep us. So now we must keep ourselves. We must guard our hearts. Not as self-salvation, but as those who are from God, who know God, who are in God, who possess his eternal life. As those who “to live is Christ.”
