“To live is Christ” means love for God and love for neighbor now has a power source. The indwelling love of Jesus that fills us with all of his self-giving love so that we may now go out in the knowledge and faith in that same self-giving love and then love one another. Now our duty is our delight. The command is our comfort. The more we know how much we are loved by God, the more we can’t wait to love God and love neighbor from the pure heart that our Love has poured into us.
“To live is Christ” means no more fear of dying and no more fear of living.
Union with Christ is not just about “being saved” from death and hell. It’s about having the Good Shepherd of your soul lovingly guide you through every step of life by his grace and truth.
Every question has been answered, and the answer is Jesus. The dark day of his cross has broken through all the darkness in us with the burning light of the great I Am. The light and life of “to live is Christ.”
You see, your transfiguration into Christ-likeness is not simply about you becoming more morally upright or pious. And it’s not about acceptable “Christian” behaviors or rule keeping. It’s about glowing with the love of Christ.
“To live is Christ” means we who were once lost are no found. Found in the arms of our running, hugging, kissing, rejoicing dad. Brought home by our searching shepherd, our sweeping woman, our welcoming father. Now, back home in God’s love, we are freed from younger brother rebellion and from older brother religion.
